SoHo lofts deserve a real tree

The first time we delivered a tree to a loft on Greene Street, we looked up at the ceiling and laughed. The customer wanted a 6-foot tree. The ceiling was 16 feet. We talked them into a 12-footer and they sent us a photo on Christmas morning that we still keep on our phones.

Now we know better. We get more orders for 10, 12, even 15-foot trees from SoHo than from any other neighborhood in the city. Those cast-iron buildings on Greene, Mercer, and Wooster were built with industrial ceilings, and a small tree in a SoHo loft looks like a houseplant. We come prepared.

We deliver to all of SoHo: Crosby, Prince, Spring, Broome, Broadway to Sixth Avenue. We’ve memorized the freight elevators. We know which doormen want to see ID twice and which ones wave us through. We know which loading docks have a low clearance that will not fit a 15-foot tree wrapped in netting, so we plan accordingly.

The trees themselves come from our farms in North Carolina and Pennsylvania. We work with the same growers in North Carolina and Pennsylvania every year. The trees come north fast. When you decorate a SoHo loft with a real Fraser fir straight from the field, the room smells like a forest for a month.
